Wedding: Golden Evening

Bethany & Tim were married in downtown Portland, Oregon a little over a year ago. As Bethany (or Bethy, as I call her) is my best friend...I will confess that we spent many wine filled nights watching bizarre alien movies and showing each other our wedding color schemes and desired dress silouettes. This, of course, all before either of us had anyone to marry! That's just a girl night for ya!

My ideas changed and changed...and then changed again. Bethany however, always knew exactly what she wanted. A warm tone wedding full of golden hues and honey coated colors that would make any evening extra lovely.

Getting ready

Each bridesmaid had a unique color of dress made from a vintage flavored fabric in an equally flattering "pencil" cut. The way the colors came together were beautiful. Every last detail was beautifully captured by Lavenda Memory. That's me (right) trying to secure Bethany into her dress...I had to recruit help from Becca (the bride's sister, left)...lacing up a wedding gown is hard work!

This is one of my favorite pictures from the entire evening...Elsie the ever charming flower girl! Elsie's mother, Shari Rainka of Tilia Design is responsible for the beautiful bridal bouquet above.

Getting married in the heart of the Pearl District (a hip, industrial portion of Portland) was a little different then Bethany had originally imagined. "I always thought I'd get married in a barn!" she said. However, the sophisticated back drop of the city made for the perfect addition to the warm colors.

Invitations were a bit of a team effort, as I designed a Save the Date and Beth arranged for it to be printed. She and Tim wanted to give their guests a "park" like feeling by adding trees, twinkle lights and street lamps to the ceremony. Naturally, for the Save the Dates we wanted to create that look.

I also had the honor to design a simple birch tree drawing to appear on the actual invitations. Bethany added the text herself, then sent my drawing along to another talented designer to construck a beautiful envelope and assembly suite.

Again touching on the "park mood" I described above, Bethany and Tim's ceremony was perfectly illuminated by the street lamps and lanterns that lined the aisle. It really did feel like a warm walk in the park, which was nice considering we were smack dab in the middle of a chilly February evening!

One of the highlights of the reception was the super fun photobooth set up by Lavenda Weddings (the amazing photographer for the evening). Guests had a great time hamming it up for the camera...especially the kiddos!

One of the funnier moments of the evening...the barbie doll couples challenge game!
