12 By 2012: Vintage Desk Project

Alrighty everyone...I'm officially done trying to attack this 12 By 2012 list! I completed 8 of the 12 goals and I think that is pretty stinkin' good. My Husband and I set some resolutions this morning. Today is "gut the house" day for me, and budget/kuza/website day for Ken. With a little elbow grease, by Tuesday of next week we should have all those "to-dos" that have been weighing on us for months now...completed. What a great feeling! This post is SUPER fun as I finally finished a project I'd been dying to do since October, but only had time just last night!

#2 Re-finish & paint an old card showcase stand & retro desk I purchased at a garage sale = DONE & DONE!

*Special thanks to Dani at Oh, Hello Friend Blog for coming up with the wonderful 12 by 2012 idea...and for challenging us all! I love her button & banner design for the project as well (yellow square above)*

I didn't actually have time to paint the old card showcase. That was for the best, however, considering I still haven't decided what I want it to look like. However, the desk is all done! Remember this?

To see some of my inspirations for the completed look, see HERE. I wanted the desk to look retro and mod...1960's fun. A visual that popped in my mind was an old suitcase my mom had my brother and I use when we were little. They were from her childhood with lots of bright florals on them. I just loved those suitcases.

I could NOT be happier with how it turned out. We had some grand ideas to take the desk to a park today and shoot it outside...but it's rainy and foggy. I was worried all my hard work might wash away being that the paint is still a wee bit tacky (meaning damp...not ugly).

I sincerely hope you have a lovely new year's eve and that you start out on YOUR resolutions strong and full of hope. I'm in the midst of a big life-change and season of growth right now, so I'm a big believer in hard work, dreams and prayer. Have a great night of parties..be safe...and I'll catch ya later!
