Inspired By: "The Village"

Village

I found myself recently inspired by an eerily fun film, The Village. Some of the closest people in my life (Kenny, Joey, Bethany, Mom) are jumping up and down right now, because they LOVE this film. I like it too... that being said, I'm more drawn towards the styling, woodland scenery, wardrobe, and other worldly design throughout the film...than the actual story itself. To each their own, as it's said. No matter what it's a treat, this movie...

If you haven't seen it yet, artistically it's savory yet bland...ethereal yet grounded...cold yet warm. Strong color themes include yellow, beige, brown, blush, pink and coral...not to mention RED: "the color we do not speak of". I honestly would prance around in long skirts and flower crowns if I thought I could get away with it. All day. I'm serious. So why not give it a shot?

Here are some interesting household treasures, artwork pieces and wardrobe choices for the woodland creatures like me out there. I tried to stay true to the essence of the film, while also grabbing modern items to share with you! Take a look...and let me know what you think!

If you haven't seen The Village yet, it's an interesting "story book" like thriller directed by M. Night Shyamalan. Have you discovered rentals on Amazon.com? I only recently stumbled upon it as I'm a late bloomer when it comes to media technology.

I hope you enjoyed this collection of whimsical fancy-fancy things (to quote my friend Hannah Webster). To view ALL my inspirations (there were too many for one post) visit my Village Pinterest Board.

Happy Monday...don't worry, you'll make it to the weekend! Unless "those we do not speak of" tear you apart limb by limb. Heh, that was a reference to the movie...um...just rent it!
